If your interested in this kind of game, I would recommend League of Legends. I know Ben Titmarsh, Daniel Royde, and Nick Lovett play or used to play it also.

Do any other LoL players expect/intend to switch?

I'm not sure. I will certainly give DOTA2 a go if I get in on the beta. I can't say I like the visual style of DOTA compared to LoL. I find the colours really bland, and having the champs and creep almost the same size is really awkward.

Also I'm obviously invested, both time and a little money, into LoL. I have plenty of friends on there now so if they all move then sure, I'll probably follow.

I'm in the same boat as Simon, I see no real reason currently to switch from LoL, especially with Dominion looking like it will be highly entertaining.
DOTA2 and LoL play very differently despite the obvious similarities, so it's worth giving a shot. It's not a case of swapping from LoL to DOTA2, you can play both :D
I have to pay for DOTA2. Pay. With money. My Money. LoL is free...

DOTA2 currently has no price structure set. It is likely they will go F2P to sate the Asian market (the vast majority of DotA was played on pirated copies of WC3), as well as following on the financial success of LoL and TF2, following on from . The beta is 100% free, for sure.

I personally would prefer DOTA2 to cost (because it saves me money in the long run not having to shell out to buy heroes), but it comes down to personal preference - some people really enjoy the unlocking aspect of LoL.

I understood that DOTA2 would likely not be free (though it seems I may have been wrong) you don't need to pay for Champions, skins are what makes the money, whilst you can buy champions it is silly to do so.
It is so hard to grind out the champions (what with requiring multiple runepages) that I know a lot of people buy them - especially when Riot keep pricing people out of newer ones when they are all 6k IP. I spent £20 on the Collectors Edition so I could have a solid base of heroes, and then a good chunk more when there were cooler looking ones that I wanted access to).
