Magic: the Gathering in the UK

We gave my new graveyard-based cube a couple of drafts today.

Some notes in no particular order.

* More enablers required.  Too much Threshold and not enough ways to get it particularly in R and W.

Sorin, Lord of Innistrad is pretty much as ridiculous as you'd expect.

* Stonecloaker and Jotun Grunt are the kind of hate cards that are fun.

Grafdigger's Cage is not fun.

Snapcaster Mage is not so powerful in a format where half the instants and sorceries have Flashback already.

* Very heavy color commitment cards that need to be built around mostly get ignored (Doomsday, Nefarious Lich)

* It would be more fun to cast an eye over all Magic cards than remain so firmly in Innistrad and Odyssey block.

* Some obvious cards were very very good: Eternal Dragon, Charmbreaker Devils

* Some Innistrad limited favorites were pretty nuts: Spider Spawning, Gnaw to the BoneDevil's Play

* Kessig Cagebreakers + Wonder in the graveyard = ggs (flying Ghoultree also good)

* Some obviously good cards were obviously good: Eternal DragonPsychatogShower of Coals

* Some slightly less obvous cards were also good or very good: Scrivener, Quiet Speculation, River KelpieBuried Alive

* Anger, Valor, Glory, Wonder and probably the rest of those cycles are great.

* Some cards that are good might be too complicated or too complicatedly worded to actually be fun: Volrath's Shapeshifter, Bone Dancer.  The Shapeshifter does allow for some sweet plays but is it too much?

* Eggs are good.  More/better fixing which puts cards in the graveyard might be good.

* Everyone loves a sweet enabler like Hedron Crab, Ambassador Laquatus or Forbidden Alchemy.

* Circling Vultures is approximately the best card ever.

Full list we used today is here: magic.bluebones.net/graveyard-cube.txt (paste into magic.bluebones.net/proxies for the visual view.

You said Eternal Dragon was good twice, that good? ;-)

When you say fixing that puts things into the graveyard, do you mean the card itself? Like Evolving Wilds/Chromatic Star etc?

Chromatic star/sphere would be good as they add to graveyard count after use

Sakura-Tribe Elder, Diligent Farmhand would be possibles as well. Wayfarer's Bauble. Groundskeeper! I guess the difficult part really isn't finding more green fixing...

And yeah, Eternal Dragon really is 'that good'. Best card.
