New Tournament Idea - Opinions Wanted

I have heard of a tournament in the US where the prize is all of that year's unclaimed lost property and was thinking of doing the same thing at this year's Christmas event (between the Iron Man and Keith Loveys).

What do people think about making the format a Reject Rare Draft - each player would have to provide 45 rare / mythic rares as their entrance fee, these are then randomly made into 15 card all rare "repack" boosters, which are then distributed amongst the particpants and then everthing continues like a normal booster draft.

In this instance anyone that would receive a prize, gets to pick an item of lost property (they have to take the item away with them or dispose of prior to leaving (it can't be "re-lost" for next year.

That's a really great idea! Let us use up our extra rare, usually rubbish rares, and actually play with them for once. There were never any prizes anyway so anything is a bonus. So...Yes, thumbs up.

Just one question though, when does these rares needed to be handed over, as the more people enter the competition, the more cards will need to be sort and hence more time?

Sure, the trophy can be the item of lost property choosen by the winner, they could have the option of returning it the following year.

It's a great idea. What a format!

45 reject rares might end up being quite a high barrier to entry, though. I am a terrible hoarder and rare drafter and even including things like Telemin Performance (sideboard card in Extended!) and Flameblast Dragon a rough count shows I only have about 100 such cards on hand. Perhaps for people who have been playing a long time it would be a lot easier. I guess one can buy entry from Mike for about 20 quid but the EV is not positive!

im gona buy off mike and enter 45 Steamflogger Boss to the draft. it should make it interesting! they are actually quite good in multiples!

i just gotta hope there are no playble contraptions printed in zendikar!

i think i have about 14 cradle of vitality which might finally come in handy. Also Jason can we spread these 'fun' tournaments out a bit - it would be nice to have a casual event every 2/3 months instead all at once at keith loveys - at the minute all we do is standard, draft and sealed.
