Magic: the Gathering in the UK

Hey guys,

www.SubmitYourDraft.com is finally available!  I'd really appreciate it if you guys could check it out, have a play around and let me know what you think.  You can use the site in one of two ways:

1. Submit your own MODO drafts, instructions are here: http://www.submityourdraft.com/faq

If you choose to do this, your draft will be available for rating by the rest of the community.

2. Critique other peoples drafts.  On a pick-by-pick basis you can decide if you agree or disgaree.  This will cause the pick to get a rating, modify the overall draft rating and modify the members overall rating.

If you don't want to do either of these, then feel free to just check it out and read the draft recaps.  However, signing up will literally take 30 seconds of your time, no email confirmations or anything painful like that, just the basic details.  Register here: http://www.submityourdraft.com/register

While using the site, if you get an error page, then the problem will be automatically flagged with me.  For all other issues, cosmetic, usability, suggestions etc then please leave me a message here or send me an email: ben.titmarsh@hotmail.co.uk

I'm hoping to build up a bit of a community of contributors and critics.  So to kick it all off, I've submitted a couple of my own drafts.  Please head over to submityourdraft.com and let me know what you think.  I look forward to your comments!

Just been to rate some more, would be handy if there was some indicator saying that I have rated one or more cards in that draft already (so I don't go and look again as I would have already rated it) Also, it might be an idea to hide the list of picks from other people until you pick yourself, to ensure peoples choices are unique and not swayed by the majority. I got this weird bug as well:

The image was wrong (see red circle), it might be something to do with disfigure being the chosen card in the most recently opened page (I open pages in tabs and go through them one by one, starting at the current page - the last tab I opened had a disfigure in the first pack)
In deck construction, card sorting would be handy (CMC, creatures/land etc). Some kind of 'back to the top' or 'next draft' button at the bottom of the page would be handy to avoid lots and lots of scrolling.

Wow thats a spicy bug. I've just been trying to recreate it and haven't managed to yet. Do you remember if you'd posted any opinions on other drafts before opening the new tab with this issue? I actually think it's fine if people read what others wrote before making their own mind up. Whats most helpful to the person who posted the draft is if consensus can be made on the "correct" pick. Being swayed by someone elses argument, even if you may have not chosen the correct card in the moment, is fine. I'll add the indicator idea to my rapidly growing feature list.

Missed this comment first time round. 64 person drafts? whats that all about??

Kieran you could do that, u need to take get a draft which is formatted like the MTGO output, then modify all the bits you wanna add like the pick and also any potential picks. You can then submit it like any modo draft, and I have checked u can have 2 cards for first pick so just note down what u want reviewed.

Oh and Ben, u gonna add a check for 64 man/PE draft. They will go up just checked, so with the WWK ones coming up maybe people would like to see em?

I went through a complete draft, then back to the main page, then clicked on three drafts I hadn't looked at (middle click so each opened in a new tab). I went to the first one I clicked on (the first tab that opened) , selected 'agree', and it updated the little box of other peoples comments with mine (selecting disfigue when there wasn't one in the pack). I closed down all the tabs and started again in one tab only and it seemed to work fine from there. When I got to the last of the three I had originally opened in tabs (but since closed), it had said I had already voted on the first pick (which was the disfigure).

From what I can guess, it send the 'accept' form response to the last page the site recorded I had clicked on, even though I was currently on another page (one I had clicked on recently, but not the most recently clicked one). If it helps, I was using the site on Windows XP, using Google Chrome.
Bug again, after making 2 picks think on page reload it happened, and looks like my 8-4 i think.

And again

Oh and it the bug does not persist if u refresh. Oh and 64 man draft are the draft PE's, So u get 64 people to pay draft set and 4 tixs, then u make them battle out of there draft to get the 8 winners to meet in a free draft to give out loads of booster. Carn't believe that you've never done one. The prize payout is a bit top heavy but it starts out like an 4-3-2-2 and goes large.
Paul can you confirm that you were using tabs too? Great description Simon, I managed to recreate the bug using the following steps:

1) Login and open up three drafts in different tabs
2) Attempt to comment on a pick from the draft in the first tab
3) Comment is actually made on the corresponding pick for the last tab that was opened.

It appears that the request level variables are getting overwritten for a request from the same ip in a different tab. I wonder if this is a bug with Tapestry (the framework i'm using).

Thanks for finding this one, all I can suggest for the moment is not to use tabs until I find a fix.
Think it was happening during tabs.
select isn't broken! :)

It is correct at the time of rendering, but when you do the ajax request thats when it's brokeness appears. Think I know whats going on, fix soon.

Not sure if this is supposed to happen, but if I click on a draft that I've already rated, it automatically scrolls me to the bottom of the page, instead of staying at the top of the page. Speaking of which, a 'go back to top of page' link, or 'next draft' link at the bottom of a page would be handy to avoid scrolling up lots.
Ok new build up now with the following fixes. Let me know if you have any problems with them:

* http://submityoudraft.com working
* Added META tags
* Added RSS feed at www.submityourdraft.com/feed
* Fixed infamous tabbing issue. Drafts in multiple tabs should now behave correctly
* Added alt tags to card images
* View Draft page now no longer occasionally scolls to the bottom on load
* Rejigged blog display on home page

Still got all your suggestions in the pipeline, but I feel like we're getting towards the end of beta testing and am fairly comfortable publicising to the masses now. Will give it a few more days, so please keep using it, really appreciate your feedback guys - it's been very helpful.
