I'm going to hold off on the large volume of negative things that i obviously have to say for the time being. some basic observations:

• souldbond actually looks kinda fun in limited
• miracle seems super swingy (eg 7cc/2cc time walk)
• the flavour text is in line with other recent releases (ie fucking awful)

obvs the question really on everyone's minds is WHY ISN'T CUBE AVAILABLE ON MODO ALL THE TIME, but for the time being what do you think of the new set?

First impression : My that's a lot of big flyers...

Second impression : hmm, no removal in the set...

Third impression : yawn

The combination of little removal (though there is a black -X/-X at common, barter in blood at uncommon, thunderbolt and eaten by spiders at common) plus lots of flicker effects to save your dudes from much of this removal, seems like it could be a tad miserable. 

But maybe we're wrong on amount/quality of removal and it'll be fine, only a few days to wait to find out!

also, despite the flavour text being nearly universally terrible, there is some really nice artwork in this set. Descendants' Path, i'm looking at you. 

ALSO the new Wild Growth seems pretty spicy. draw a card AND mana of any colour? i mean this is obviously only relelvant to one deck but it must be nice getting a huge upgrade to one of your workhorse cards

Well, the art to Triumph of Ferocity makes my squeamishness about all the Angel tits flying around look like a joke.

Jesus fucking Christ.  I am going to go into card alterations where I replace the art of Angel of Glory's Rise and Avacyn, Angel of Upskirt with pictures of Gloria Steinem and Simone de Beauvoir.  For Triumph of Ferocity I am not quite sure but I'm probably going to show the sex offenders section of the roughest Federal Penitentiary in the US.

Edit: what the fuck was the description given to the artist to get this piece?  "Man with embarrassing relative size of body parts chokes medieval-themed prostitute with similarly comical waist-to-bust ratio while preparing to punch her in the face with a metal spike. PS Please don't forget to show some thigh/suspender"? Nice.

Strange how some of the art is just awful but some of it I really like. Mostly the art that's kept the gothic horror feel of Innistrad like some of the awesome looking Geists. Some of the art is really jarring, though, like the cartoon skeleton on Grave Exchange. I'm not saying I could produce better art, but I'm fairly certain I could find better artists - they're right there doing the art on the other cards!
