We are doing this, right?

I mean this effective IS Nationals.  PTQ, WMCQ, Legacy Championship, historic drafts, etc.

And if we don't support it this year maybe it doesn't happen next year.

So, Nottingham at the beginning of June?

Would love to, but... will be in Las Vegas!

This does sound pretty good. The best thing is that this time I can book a room early and get somewhere reasonably close to the venue!

If we don't support is this year maybe they will bring back nationals.

I think they are definitely bringing back Nationals Jim but only specifically if you don't attend Nottingham, correct.

Looks like it is IN a hotel that's 50 quid a night.

The thing is with magic players is they will never know what happens if they don't attend something because everyone will just attend anyway and Wizards will think they made a good decision.

That being said, I'm a hypocrite anyway because I will be attending the WMCQ so *shrug*

also might do the legacy championship if I can borrow a goblins deck!

I'd generalise this even further, to just: The thing with (many) Magic players is, they will accept *something* because it is better than *nothing*.

Hence you see reasonably often see a group of "friends" at a Magic tournament who actually just treat each other like absolute shit the whole time, because a "friend" who berates you constantly (and way past the point of it being a bit of friendly "banter)" is somehow better than not having anyone at all.

It's quite sad, really. Get higher standards, people!

I think this looks like a great event, though.

Yes, I thought Nationals was great like everyone else (in the UK at least) and yes I think it's very sad that it doesn't exist any more.  But this looks sweet, too.  I don't subscribe to the view that Wizards of the Coast owes us a Nationals and I think in many countries it was either too small or even too big to be as cool as the UK version so from an international perspective it may well make sense to scrap it.  So I guess I don't really feel like there's much chance of Nationals coming back after player outcry so I'm not interested in boycotting WMCQs only in playing in them.

Given that someone is hoping to recreate a Nationals-like atmosphere in an event in the center of the UK with sweet side events, a PTQ and a WMCQ, I'd like to get out and support it and enjoy it.

I have to agree that the event looks good and is the closest thing we are going to get to something like this outside of a GP.

Oh yea, I would 100% be there if not on holiday.

Considering I missed Manchester, I'd be quite up for this.

Are people considering going up on Friday, and back home on Sunday?

I don't think I can make this unfortunately, meant to be moving house that weekend, otherwise it'd be on like donkey kong!
