Magic: the Gathering in the UK

So the final idea is everyone submit the following amounts of cards to sim.okeeffe@gmail.com, he will then print them out, we should all probably contribute towards sleeving the beast.

6 cards of each colour
5 multicoloured cards (inc hybrids)
5 artifacts
5 lands
1 wildcard

I would also like idea's at to the best way to evolve the cube?

Mother > Student of Warfare > Isamaru > Steppe Lynx > Elite Vangaurd (I love me some 2 power white 1 drops..)

Mother > Isamaru > Student > Lawkeeper > Vanguard, something like that

Three votes on an example sounds like proof that "You Build the Cube" would have legs!

360 card cube broken down in the average way is:

W 6-12-6-3-3-2-1 / 5-3-3-6-1-1

U 1-4-5-4-2-3 / 6-10-6-7-4-3-1

B 48 ... and so on ...

R 48

G 48

Multicolor  33

Artifact 39

Land 44

We should possibly have an initial vote on whether the cube is powered/how many broken cards we want in there.  Then launch into the details.

Another completely different and radical possibility is to *exclude* all of the cards from the "average cube" lists and make a cube composed entirely of cards that *aren't* on there.

360 cards sounds good for initial size as it is rare we get more than 6-8 players.

I'd be interested in doing a non-standard cube, although I'm not sure what theme it should be. Or were you more suggesting a regular cube, but where the most commonly used cards are not eligible?

Definitely up for cube shenanigans when I get back in April!

I would suggest that at the end of each event each player may replace an existing card with a new card of the same colour, then maybe a prize for the winner they get to add a new card or something?

what about trying something completely different, what about get everyone interested to submit 45 cards blindly, maybe with a decided colour split, this will give some duplicates and some glearing ommitions, this can then be played and the winner of each game gets to make changes, this would make thinks a bit interesting, yes we might get 8 black lotus in the 1st run but also might be missing some fairly obvious cards, just an idea to make things a bit different

This sounds like a really great idea. You could put cards in to support your favorite archetype, to add a new combo deck, or just put in a pet card that you like. I feel like 45 is probably too few cards, as there will probably be considerable overlap in choices, so we may fall shy of a playable number.

This could work. It is kind like a you make the set, but where at least most* of the cards will be balanced as they were designed by Wizards.
I assume each player has to submit 45 unique cards, I can't force a certain archetype by submitting 10 Circling Vultures for my black cards?

*Obviously lots of old cards are considered broken, so maybe we want to set a start date or have a small banned list?

I think it's a great idea. Kind of like building your favourite limited deck.

seems like a great idea.  agree with Simon that highlander for each person is probably best.
