Magic: the Gathering in the UK

So now the first round of the auction is done, how are we feeling about our teams? Mine once again looks solid but not spectacular since all my money went on Defenders and they never really end up scoring enough points. Mid-table obscurity beckons for my team once again.

At least I have almost all my players, though - Simon only has 4 so far and one of them doesn't count because it's Theo Walcott.

seem to have forgotten to say I am happy with my team now but if Adebayor goes to Spurs (as reported) I will be very very happy

Torres is a good buy this season, looked very sharp in the Charity shield.

My strategy is to have 3 main targets, which I bid 18-30m for (this year it was Rooney, Bale, Bairnes), and the rest at 500k. In the first round I normally bid on good players who are injured (e.g. Sagna) or top players from unfashionable clubs (Ricky Lambert).

Defenders all from "good" defensive managers, I don't like to fight for Man City or Man Utd defenders with 500k bids...:

Martin O'Neal (Sunderland)

David Moyes (Everton)

Brendan Rogers (Liverpool)

(West Ham United)

I dunno why people would doubt Lambert, last year Grant Holt was in the exact same position (top scorer from a promoted club) and he performed just great!

there will always be a doubt about championship strikers coming up, for every holt there is at least 10 others who really struggle, the reason is usually they don't get the 10 chances they got before.  I hope he does well I had Holt last year and he was brilliant

I guess, going off just one experience rather than the average is pretty silly, huh?

Yea I had Holt last year (and again this year), so fingers crossed!

not at all he is big and strong that can go along way against defenders who are more used to pace and trickery as Holt proved last season, thought about Holt but decided on a punt on Ade
