Hey folks.
I know Dan Royde is coming to Worlds, he's Q'ed.
I know I am going, I live here.
What about you guys?
I have a blow up bed and a very large sofa available for people that want to slum it and save money. I'm a 45 min drive from the site and I'll be doing the drive both ways every day whether you are here or not :) If 100 people say they want to come I may have to have a rethink :)
Worlds 2009 in Italy was good fun. This one is probably no more expensive if you stay at my place instead of a hotel.
Now is the time to book flights. Fares are around 400-and-something pounds from London. SFO and San Jose are both sensible places to land. Very good flight search engine matrix.itasoftware.com still works despite their recent acquisition by Google and inclusion in (US-only) google flights.
Thoughts?

I'd love to but need to save money for our big holiday next year - which is a shame, because with the PTs going private next year, this might be the last such event we could attend.
Try not to break any furniture this time, chaps...
Nov 17-20 are the dates of Worlds. So the most basic plan would be to fly in in advance of the 17th and leave on the 21st. If you want to come a little earlier to ease the jetlag that would be cool.
There's also GP San Diego the weekend before (short&cheap flight or 6 hour drive away). That's 12&13Nov. Getting bolder in our plans you could potentially fly in to San Diego, maybe meet me there, get to Palo Alto by (my?) car or plane then you get 3 days in Northern California (I'll be working) before the PT. Or maybe you'll meet up with Dan on those days and test with him. Then go to Worlds, then fly home out of SFO. Not sure what that does to the flight prices to arrive somewhere different than you leave - probably nothing good.
Dan is in San Diego from 11 Nov (Friday) to 14 Nov (Monday) and then San Francisco from 14 Nov to 20 Nov (Sunday). So he's all booked up. I think he has a hotel too but he hasn't answered my email yet.
zero chance of making the gp, I'm currently working... I figure I could probably skip work on friday given that I live in China, which would allow me to get in on thursday morning and go straight to grinders.
100% would not be there to play at worlds, but hanging out is a possibility
EDIT: yeah, nvm, looking at 600 pounds each way out of beijing. can't really justify that for the weekend... maybe next time (especially if I'm not working :S)
