Magic: the Gathering in the UK

We are doing this in our Multiverse app:

http://mv.bluebones.net/

(Old shared Google spreadsheet for this is here:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Ag7TtjWsLhYkdHBBUHF4RG... )

Channel Fireball just did Top 8 Mechanics:

* Retrace

* Dredge

* Landfall (not for attacking like Steppe Lynx - Grazing Gladehart and Roil Elemental style)

* Scry

* Flashback

* Kicker

* Flying

* Cycling

I wonder if we could use that, or some of that, as the basis of You Make the Set 5.  I know that some of you were keen on Landfall.

Not sure when we would play it out but some time in late May probably?

Not at all!

There is no such thing as a dull bear. All bears are amazing!

What this set needs is some Vintage-playable Bears.

OK so I am getting towards a v1 of a Multiverse.

It's worse than the spreadsheet in that it isn't so infinitely malleable but it has proper commenting, revision tracking, and can potentially be improved to be even more super duper in the future.

Don't do too much on the spreadsheet as I just took a copy of the data to import into my new thing and we can try it out and see what we think.  Can always export back to the spreadsheet if it is not as good.

URL to follow ...

OK, there is a new Multiverse live at:

    http://mv.bluebones.net/

It may take a while for the DNS to propagate to where you are and for you to be able to see a website at that address.  (If you know about hosts files the IP is 178.79.178.155)

Login is currently a very crude dropdown to identify yourself with no security that will be going away soon.

Have a look, have a play, let me know what works and what doesn't and what you would like to be able to do that you can't.

Thanks!

Eugh I just control F'd retrace and so many of those cards are completely bonkers. Counter spells, regworths, and pump spells are not mechanics that can fairly be put as retrace spells. (At least not at  instant for pump. Will have a look at other cards at some point

I like the multiverse so far. Couple of things came up immediately:

Creatures with 0 power don't get their P/T displayed.

It would be nice if there was a way to sort by the date things happened so you could go in and check what was new.

Fixed the 0 power doesn't show bug.

"Recent changes/Unseen changes" is going to be one of the big advantages over the spreadsheet.  Working on that ...

Multiverse is excellent Tom, thanks for making it!

When changing a card and adding a comment in the reason for change, I think it would make more sense for the change to be displayed first in the changelog rather than after the reason, or maybe somehow visually link the comment and changes together?

I'm guessing you are going to add in other fields later?

Such as separating P/T, separating type and subtype, and maybe adding designer. These are not essential but nice to have for the finished product.

@Kieran - http://mv.bluebones.net/changes/ - first rudimentary stab at "recent changes".  More to come.

@Simon - Power and Toughness are separate in the database just combined in the UI.  The trick is how to allow sorting by things like CMC and Power and Toughness which are derivable from what we can see already without adding more columns.  Probably some kind of sort order dropdown or visual widget.

For designer I was thinking that the initial comment (which defaults to "Added") would serve for showing who the designer was but I haven't yet gone back and added an initial comment for cards that were created in the spreadsheet.  I'll do that at some point

I agree about the ordering of the change and the comment.  I'll either fix that or get radical and as you say make it just one thing.
