Magic: the Gathering in the UK

A while ago, I had a thought to make a Mental Magic set made up of cards of each mana cost showing the most useful effects at those costs. But I really wanted to be able to draft it, and that wasn’t going to happen when any card could be anything. So now I’ve moved on to a (probably ridiculous) idea to make a cube composed entirely of cards that represent four different regular Magic cards (this seemed the maximum that could really fit in a standard text box on MSE) and can be used as whichever one you decide (but only once as each thing a-la Mental Magic).

Right now I’m in the position where all the cards are ready to be produced, but since putting four entire cards on a normal-sized card is impossible, I want to produce some sheets where all four options appear slightly smaller than normal and in a row (so you can easily check what the slightly more obscure cards actually do). Sadly, no Proxy generator that I know of is actually capable of doing this, and since Baker’s one uses individual image files it would take forever to do them using that. So the question is - does anyone know a Proxy generator that could make them in the style I need? I definitely don’t want to resize about 2,000 images manually! Although, I guess everyone has database apps on their phones nowadays that would make having them in paper format irrelevant anyway…

Are you just putting the names of the cards in the text box, or the full card abilities (and P/T for creatures?)

If just card names, then building them in MSE might be easiest, no images though.

If you are trying to condense 4 cards to the size of 1, that seems awkward for legibility purposes. Perhaps just use a full text box card with just rules text and no images. you could have casting cost in top right and I guess card type if it will always be the same.

Sounds like an interesting idea, and kind of similar to a project I worked on earlier in the year but never got round to completing. Perhaps I'll do it in my spare time over the holidays.

While not as awesome, I do have an MSE file for a cube where everything is a split card, which is quite similar (eg there is Academy Rector//Armageddon). Been meaning to print that off for a while now!

The actual cards were just going to have names plus possibly relevant alternate ability costs (eg. Fb - W to show it has Flashback for W). Because I can't really put the whole text on the cards, though, I wanted a set of sheets showing the actual cards for each one, but small enough to fit 4 across the page and about 5 down.

An all split-card cube sounds like it would be a lot easier logistically than trying to do four to a card! I am worried there might be a bit of an information overload with my idea. Though only a complete heathen wouldn't love a combined Circling Vultures/Call to the Netherworld/Skull Fracture.

Hah, this is exactly what I was working on!

Did you do it yourself Louis? (I did mine manually!)

Would be cool if I could have a copy to compare to mine ( I only have W, U, B, R done so far)

No, I got it from some guy in the US - I can email it to you if you want to check it out
