Magic: the Gathering in the UK

I've finally got around to updating Cube Tutor!  It's only a small update but maybe you'll find it useful.  Please note that a lot of this stuff has only been tested in Firefox so I make no guarantees in other browsers yet (this will come if more people start using it).  For those who missed it, here is the old thread explaining what it's about:

Changes
======

- You can put cards on a watch list
- You can tag cards how you like
- You can mark whether the card is FOIL, NON FOIL, ALTERED or PROMO FOIL (for those like me who care about such things)
- Fixed an issue where the app was leaking database connections (resulting in the exception page on the first load after a long period of inactivity)
- Removed unnecessary side bar from the layout
- Lots of minor UI improvements

Make sure to hit the 'OK' button after making any changes (no proper Ajax just yet).  Unfortunately the column filtering that is in place for Name and Set does not work on the Tags column yet as this column contains text fields and not just blank text.  Once this is done it will make the feature particularly useful.

Coming Next
=========

- A nicer way to upload cards!  The initial upload is a bit labourious with the popup
- Proper onChange ajax request - no more clicking that OK button
- More Analysis

The less said about Kieran's cube the better.  Themes are Kicker, Morph and Terribleness?

I am not sure about keeping Standard Cube up.  I built it for some folks who haven't been playing that long so they didn't have to spend ages reading all the cards when we were cubing at GP San Diego with no real expectation on how good it would be.  But as various different archetypes have been doing well (from Esper Control to Jund aggro) and I even won a game with Laboratory Maniac in my RUG self-mill I now think it is cool.

Visual spoiler is a great idea!  I will do that soon.  Cheers for the algorithm, seems sensible!

Current issues:

1) It takes a million and one years to download all the graphics from Gatherer for larger cubes.  Any tips Tom?

2) Multi coloured cards aren't sorted very intelligently

3) Ancestral Vision is considered a 0 cost artifact!

I threw this together quite quickly so wouldn't be suprised if there were other issues.

My cube has a theme - the theme is options! Almost everything has an ability of some description and nearly every spell can have multiple modes thans to Kicker or Splice. It all comes from playing cube matches where all the cards are amazing but as such there are no onboard tricks or reusable creature abilities that aren't busted. Creatures tend to have a CIP effect or just be super efficient for the cost, while spells just tend to be the most efficient versions of their particular effect. By making everything less powerful but more complicated, I want games to come down to correct management of onboard abilities and decisions on when to cast potentially scalable spells rather than seeing if mono-red aggro can beat reanimator combo.

It might possibly be annoying that the cards overlap with a cube like Kierans where you don't necessarily know what the cards do by name!

 

EDIT: Just modified the display so that the cards no longer overlap!  Also upped the pack count to 15 cards rather than 14 (which looked better in two rows of 7!)

that's awesome cheers, to be fair I have looked at 4 packs and am struggling to decide what I would pick 1st, there are some bonkers cards in this love it

When are you going to get your cube on there Glenn?  If you have a list on your computer then you can bulk upload it in one click as part of the registration process.
