Demonic Tutor

Magic: the Gathering in the UK

I've finally got around to updating Cube Tutor!  It's only a small update but maybe you'll find it useful.  Please note that a lot of this stuff has only been tested in Firefox so I make no guarantees in other browsers yet (this will come if more people start using it).  For those who missed it, here is the old thread explaining what it's about:

Changes
======

- You can put cards on a watch list
- You can tag cards how you like
- You can mark whether the card is FOIL, NON FOIL, ALTERED or PROMO FOIL (for those like me who care about such things)
- Fixed an issue where the app was leaking database connections (resulting in the exception page on the first load after a long period of inactivity)
- Removed unnecessary side bar from the layout
- Lots of minor UI improvements

Make sure to hit the 'OK' button after making any changes (no proper Ajax just yet).  Unfortunately the column filtering that is in place for Name and Set does not work on the Tags column yet as this column contains text fields and not just blank text.  Once this is done it will make the feature particularly useful.

Coming Next
=========

- A nicer way to upload cards!  The initial upload is a bit labourious with the popup
- Proper onChange ajax request - no more clicking that OK button
- More Analysis

Hmm, I can't get the error anymore, signed in fine now!

Thanks for fixing my list.

argh, sorry Simon.  I've removed the duplicates now.  I tested locally by moving this cube over to my account and was able to login ok.  Can you email me the error (copy all the text from the page)?

Thanks!

Just completed an 'undo' feature in changesets.  Next to each item you'll see a little x.  Press that and the change will be removed.

Will look at preventing deleting and replacing of the same card twice at some point.

Ben, you need to allow people to undo changes when they make a mistake in what got changed. I did it the other day and I couldn't get rid of the incorrect replacement so it went through as a change and I had to then delete the card from the cube later.

Also, it seems to let you replace the same card multiple times as long as all the replacements are made at the same time. I accidentally replaced one card with two!

Loving visual spoiler and sample pack Ben!

Kieran I have now done so many sample packs and I still haven't a clue what to pick 1st ever

Great :)  Keep the ideas coming!

I'm not sure that this is exactly a good thing! Hopefully the games will actually play well but just by looking at the cards it's impossible to tell. At least there's a captive audience next Saturday to test!

I would be interested in playing with the standard cube.

Do you have a cube list to upload Mills?

I've improved the Analysis page a bit.  It now loads faster and the charts are separated into an accordion so you only have to look at the graphs you care about.

Most importantly though I think I got to the bottom of that annoying error that crops up when the site has been inactive.  Thom and Simon both reported this previously.  Please let me know if you see if again and copy-paste the whole page for me.

The sample pack feature is by far the best part of the site so far - it has been quite fun looking at them and deciding what to take. It makes me really want a draft feature. Even if it was something really basic like giving you a random 360 cards split 15, 14, 13 etc. over three rounds of 'boosters' (so you never get the packs back but you never see the same card twice) and showing you your deck at the end would be awesome for seeing how decks in the cube would look, even if it wouldn't be exactly like doing a normal draft! Probably a lot of work even for something that basic, though!
