Magic: the Gathering in the UK

It's actually pretty hard to qualify over here.

The only tournament with more than one place within a 200 mile radius was a 136-man event last Saturday with 8 places up for grabs.  I played a really standard RUG list with no Avenger.

I won my first 10 games to go 5-0 and be one of the three players in the room with that record (6-0 can 2xID and qualify).  Then I lost a game, got a game loss for having some cards double sleeved (I had borrowed them), lost the next round 1-2 to drop to 11th, won the last round and went up 0 places to a final position of 11th.  Dang.  Nevertheless, my best constructed performance since coming 9th in Champs the first time I ever played constructed.  I gained 104 points in rating on the day and my constructed rating is higher than my limited rating for the first time since my limited rating was under 1600.

Would have been pretty funny to annoy all the Americans in Indianapolis with my accent.  And 13-3 in games seems like it should be worth more than 12 packs.  Ho hum.

unlucky Tom. Still, a great performance. I doubt your accent will annoy the Yanks though.  They love it!

GP London is in just over a week time, yes, same weekend as the Royal wedding, any chance of making it?

Great job Tom, hope to see you back here sometime this year!

Ha, true Ray, but they might make an exception if I was playing in their Nationals.

Not going to make the GP sadly but I'll almost certainly be popping back end of August/beginning of September for a few weeks.
