Magic: the Gathering in the UK

any Vintage/Legacy players interested in a rendezvous this/next week?

I haven't played this game in aaaages (literally just a couple of times in the last 3-4 months) and was discussing the possibility with Nathan recently about playing some vintage... which got me thinking, if anyone else is game then it might be good to spend a few evenings running some gauntlets and testing some brews - there are two Bazaar of Moxen trials coming up in london soon after all!

I volunteer my flat as a possible venue (am happy to pick people up from nearby stations etc), though I understand a more central location may be more desirable for people. I merely suggest it since sometimes expensive eternal decks and public places do not mix!

Feel free to post suggestions for places/dates/etc in this thread

If I know some other people will be bringing decks, I can bring a post-DKA deck to the pre-release to play before/after the morning sealed.

I am also free Thursday evening until 10.30-11ish if you wanted to pop round?

We need another Cube draft event!!

Umm, not meaning to sound silly, but there'll be a whole bunch of people coming to play legacy next wednesday at the games club for our legacy league, many have vintage decks and would love a game. Also tomorrow is modern and many of the players there are legacy and vintage players who will have their decks in their bags... Why not come along tomorrow and next week for testing with the very people you will be competing against at the bom trial events?

You're very much correct - I'll be down for Legacy next week! I just wanted to see if anyone else was interested because i'm eager to try out some heavily proxied brews. i figured if me and nathan are going to meet anyway then a couple more people would increase our brewability.

edit: only just realised that Modern tomorrow permits proxies - will see if I can make it down for that. it's a shame that I can't ever commit to regular play because these league prices are so sick!

double edit: also i just shaved all my hair off and am embarrassed to appear in public lol

I worked the points out for the leagues really carefully; assuming that when you do come, you win, it is utterly possible to come to 3 out of 6 evenings and win the league. Even going 3-1 each night three times puts you in the prizes. I wouldn't worry that not being able to be regular stops you from making it very worthwhile.

As for the shaved head. LOL. ;)

Hope to see you tomorrow. (remember it's at Escape, not the County Hotel)

oh, is there parking anywhere near this venue? or am i better off parking near the county (eg tavistock square) and just walking up?

I think there's some nearby. Graham Baker came last time with his car and had no issue if I remember rightly. In fact, he commented that it was nice for him. I always go by tube though, so can't be considered an authority on it.

maybe i can make it? keep me posted if you're going phil : )

tonight or next week?

welp, just realised the tournament starts at 7pm! seeing as c-charge only stops at 6.30 it seems unlikely i'll make it...

ok i think if i take blackfriars bridge and go down via KX then maybe i can make it in reasonable time... if anyone reads this can you ask Crispin to wait up for me? I think I can get there for 7 but if there's any traffic i might be 5-10 late...

I've seen this. I can't wait too long, but I'll sign you up and it'll all work out. :)
