Am I imagining it or is the price of the Christmas event way higher this year? Pretty sure it used to be about £10 for the Iron Man (with lunch!) and the Keith Loveys was free. This year the Iron Man is £15 (more than a draft - and you might be out in round one!) and the Loveys costs £10 (plus drinks). Plus there's no Reject Rare draft (the best one!). Worst Christmas ever!

I think the Loveys was starting to get out of hand, so maybe the price tag is to try and reduce the number of entrants?
We can always do our own Christmas events:
Kieran Draft (basically the same as reject rare draft, but there are plenty of rubbish uncommons too, so why leave them out in the cold)
Charity Planeswalker Amnesty (entrants must supply at least one planeswalker, winner gets to tear them all up. Remains go to charity)
Baker's "Art Appreciation" Sealed (your deck must contain no buxom wenches and no muscled bare chested men. Sexualized animals are up for discussion)
Bernstein Foil Fantastical (Constructed, but your deck must be made up entirely of foils)
The loveys got out of hand and cost Jason a tonne of cash, it started out as people who knew Keith then people started to travel as it was a free draft, do the draft don't drink sod off home.
I am all for a reject rare draft, think we can just organise one on here to start at a specific time, maybe get everyone to also chuck in something for some prizes (maybe something like each entrant has to provide a card or cards equal to or over the value of £2)

And there I was thinking Kieran was a fully employed accountant and not Rob Stanjer's more scrounging mate.
15 quid for a Sealed and 10 quid for a draft. Outrageous!
I'm going to play in the Iron Man of course, but skip the Lovey's this year because I am old and boring and just literally cannot take alcohol at this advanced age. I would be up for doing something silly in the corner while surveying the shenanigans the real men get up to, if that's not too weird. I'm also pretty sure it's not possible to read that sentence without getting the wrong idea.
I have a lot of Shards of Alara foils and my ever-growing collection of weird boosters.
Sadly not around for the Lovey's this year which I've greatly enjoyed the last 3 years, however if anyone wants to do anything in the week before that, games or no, my evenings are free!
Raising the price to put off freeloaders makes sense, so I suppose I'm all for it! I can't even go to the Loveys since I'm getting a train at 5 that day, but definitely up for a bring-your-own reject rare draft from the end of the Iron Man until I have to travel!
Just realised I can't even do the Xmas events anyway as I'm heading down to see my dad on the Friday night beforehand. I should be free this weekend and/or next if people are interested in getting some gaming/cubing in.
I would suggest doing a reject rare draft along side the iron man, there won't be a lot of time before the lloveys otherwise certainly not enough for 3 rounds
