Magic: the Gathering in the UK

word on the streets is that they're brewing up a new constructed format which is every expansion and core set from masques onwards with no rotations

this way they can have an eternal style format without ridiculous cost barriers which is suitable for PT/GP/PTQ/etc play

anyone have any thoughts? I think this sounds like a good idea. though the brigade of legacy players who already have all the staples will doubtless complain endlessly about those of us who "didn't have the money/sense" to buy our duals 10 years ago

I like Royde's point that "people have to keep innovating" - while die-hard Legacy fans are right that once you have a deck, it's pretty much viable forever, that makes you a really boring person, and a narrow player, if all you are going to do til the end of time is play CounterTop or Eva Green. I think it's a good thing that you are forced to play new decks periodically.

Also, eternal players spend less money on new cards, which supports Wizards as a business less, and thus impacts the longevity of the game.
Just bc a deck stays viable for a long time does not mean you play it forever, new cards get used & metas change eg Shards block changed Legacy forever.

It is so not all about Vintage. That format is ridiculous.
