I like Royde's point that "people have to keep innovating" - while die-hard Legacy fans are right that once you have a deck, it's pretty much viable forever, that makes you a really boring person, and a narrow player, if all you are going to do til the end of time is play CounterTop or Eva Green. I think it's a good thing that you are forced to play new decks periodically.
Also, eternal players spend less money on new cards, which supports Wizards as a business less, and thus impacts the longevity of the game.
