Magic: the Gathering in the UK

Some more specific dates & details of the WMCQs now available:

http://www.wizards.com/magic/magazine/article.aspx?x=mtg/daily/othe...

The three in England are in London (14th April), Nottingham (June 3rd), and Manchester (June 30th).

My understanding from Helene's article is that the Nottingham event will be more "Nationals-like", with other events going on over the Jubilee Sunday and a PTQ on the Monday.  It's a 4-day weekend, after all!

I anticipate being at the first 2 of these :)

Sadly I'm in Las Vegas for the Notts one... not gonna be doing any crying about that!

Should be at London and Manchester though, dare I say the dreaded "T word"... testing, anyone?

Update (as it's now known) - I am the HJ for London and Nottingham :D

How many players are you expecting for these? Gotta say the London venue was pretty cramped at the PTQ (156 players) weekend just gone.

Well the PWP shows (coincidentally) 156 players in England that are qualified right now; there are maybe ~200 within striking distance if they did well at events over last weekend that aren't updated yet and/or do well at GP Turin.  Obviously we aren't expecting 100% attendance at any of these events so I would say something in the 160-180 region is a fair estimate.

Obviously all the TOs that were assigned WMCQs know this and will be encouraged to make sure that they are good for this many and more.  After London we'll know a lot more of what to expect for the other 2.

After speaking with TOs recently I believe they were told to get a venue for up to 250 people, so hopefully space shouldn't be an issue.

But I would recomend preregistering at all the WMCQs you are planning to go to so you can avoid any disappointment.
