This is as I remember it, I'm sure Mr Baker can chip in if I get something slightly wrong.
Ok, so it is Round 6. The final round of the tournament. It is Game 3 of Steve Bernstein vs Tom Baker in, I believe, the 3-2 bracket, so playing for prizes.
The game is in extra turns, and there is a judge sitting nearby as it's the only game still being played.
The game is looking like not finishing in extra turns, and I believe Steve asks something to the effect of, 'shall we just finish the game normally' (not hugely important), and Tom, quite rightly, says 'uh, there is a judge right there, I would rather play it out by the rules'.
At this point Steve turns to the judge and utters the immortal words;
'Would you mind leaving the table so I can discuss something with my opponent?'
...
...
...
After the judge has picked his jaw up off the floor, he rules that, no, that is not a reasonable request, but that Steve does have the right to appeal his ruling.
Which... he does.
I only wish I'd seen the look on DLS's face when he got that request.
