Peter's Startup for Modo

After spending the last week desperately wanting to play lots of modern and being unable to find sufficient games due to time difference (magic-league is always empty on Asian time) I have finally realised the inevitable and know that playing on modo is probably my only option if I want to play mtg constructed. This is a very sad day for me, but I guess such is life.

 

However, the idea of starting from scratch with no decks and no packs is a pretty daunting task. As such, I would like any assistance in terms of advice and cards that you guys can give. In particular with cards. If anyone can lend me any of the following cards for modern I will be very very grateful (I will wait on t2 for innistrad). If you are insist on only selling the cards, I will happily pay either 1.1x the bot selling price in tix within 3 months, or 1.2x the value in a year when I next get to England.

 

I think I will primarily grind t2, pauper and constructed queues, and not really play limited (even though that is more fun). I want to avoid spending a very large amount on this if possible, and constructed will let me play for less. However, any other advice on how to play (even basic things like stops etc.) would be welcome.

Chris Bateman has warned me about Watery Graves and Shackles costing a lot online, in which case, some extra vendettas/river of tears and the UB m11 duals would be welcome.

I don't believe that you need stops on your main phases, the game automatically stops there for you.  You need to register them for opponents main phases though.

if this is a ptq format though... the idea of aether vial + fauna shaman is something I can't seem to shake off.... no idea what it means though in terms of building a deck... splinter twin maybe (UG, with a kiki jiki to copy with body double)

Pete, on the bottom left hand side you will see a section with a small picture representing each phase and step.  Right click then choose "Stop on my turn" or "Stop on opponents turn".  You'll then see a small square in one of the corners of the picture representing the stop.

I have acquired store credit... as its very hard for me to actually get money onto my modo account due to the fact that I don't have a credit card (I CAN do it, but it requires me to get the help of friends/gf). Anyone want to do me a deal? I'll offer... 70 pounds for my modo account vs. 100 pounds irl store credit?

after talking to paul young... it seems that I just don't understand the modo system at all... so you can only buy tix in dollars, and then 20% tax. So, if the exchange rate atm is 1.61...

 

so I'll do....

100 pounds store credit for 100 tix

or

2x 50 pounds store credit for 55 tix each?

you can get tickets for ~0.96 and without any tax if you buy from people other than the official store

@Phil: on the main site? either way, I doubt I can use xtremetrades store credit on it :(

 

@Glenn: you had the best deck ;) ... dunno, just felt from the testing session that you had a shot... kinda curious how everyone did at nats though in terms of matchups etc. very annoyed that I couldn't be there (not least because of the football)

my only 2 standard losses were due to horrific draws, in both matches the games I lost involved my opp mana leaking 2 of my early guys even though I had summoners traps in my deck.  Both my draft decks had double day of judgement and I think I drew a total of 5 in the 6 rounds.
