Being such a massive supplier, I guess they can get product so cheaply that they run events at cost, and make money on card purchases etc maybe?
I have managed to become embroiled in one of these online at the moment, I will link to the spreadsheet when we are a little deeper in the draft :)
Did anyoen see the one where the very first pick was Mind's Desire? And another guy picked Tinker ahead of Time Walk? Seems strictly wrong, IMO
Surely it depends on the deck you are trying to draft?

Mind's Desire seems plain wrong, I'm sure Lotus or maybe Yawgwin is the pick if you are trying to draft the storm combo deck.

Tinker over timewalk is a bit closer in my mind. It depends what you are planning to do. If the plan is to tinker out robots then I think it is wrong, but if the plan is to go some sort of big artifact mana, jar, tolarian, comboish stratedy then maybe it makes sense.

What do you guys think the feasible archetypes are?

I think that given you'll end up with a highlander deck, and likely not get all of the cards you want, 2 card combos (especially good if you are in either position 1 or 8 as you get to double-pick), or a large degree of redundancy/"just good cards" are what you want.

I'd be interested to see the games play out, but I'd guess that storm is pretty fragile, whereas something like good blue cards+counters+vault/key, or an aggro deck with disruption would be pretty good.
yeah i agree storm looks powerfull but fragile.

which is why 1st pick MD is wrong. you need to pick up the broken accelleration and tutors before the rituals and storm cards becuase that is what you are fighting with others over.

we should totally do this format some time after nats when people whave the time to commit to it
I think it'd be pretty easy to do using commons/uncommons and a load of sharpies sometime...

true,

or people who like pretty can use baker's proxie maker once they have their pool.

did you see that the seattle group (KyleB, ZacH, etc) are doing its so you have to draft the basic lands you want in your pool? seems even more difficult as that way each pick you make is either in your deck or Side board
