Magic: the Gathering in the UK

I always disliked his style anyway so can't really say this is bad news!

Really really stupid thing for him to (allegedly) do. Somewhere around $5k profit vs losing his job, mates, rep and access to general gamer life doesn't make sense.

it doesn't make sense, which suggests to me that there is something more to it.  It could be pure greed, but it also could be some sort of addiction; gambling, drugs, hokey jerseys etc.

I agree with Thom.  You can't judge someone entirely from a set of Magic TV appearances but the first thing I thought of was gambling debts.

The interesting thing is that there was a robbery at the store a while ago and my friend seems to remember they had a key.  Then again they were sort-of relieved because the thieves didn't take the most valuable stuff so that doesn't totally line up.  I should note that I don't remember them saying anything about them having a key but I was at the store around then and there was no replaced door/glass or anything.

There's definitely more to this story but I doubt we will ever hear it!

does seem very strange, it does seem to go into a bit to much detail regarding his "sacking", I would suggest that if something had happened he would be simply sacked, however they have decided to destroy his name.

Just seems odd

Given the evidence presented of ebay and paypal accounts, plus his admission to the police, it seems very likely he did it.

not saying he didn't do it just a bit weird to drag him through the mud like that, seems something else has gone on

I think the announcement was an attempt to pre-empt the rumour mill as they'd already taken down all the old magic tv content with him in and removed him from the website.

Yea I'd agree with this - in times of a crisis it is best to be as transparent as possible to avoid any speculation/rumour-mongering.
