Magic: the Gathering in the UK

What do I play?

I'm thinking about GR Tron just because I have most of the cards and it beats Jund (does it?)  Seems better to spend 60 quid on completing that deck over 200+ for Affinity/UW and 500+ for Jund?  Just lose/hope to nut draw vs combo?

Anyone have 2 Karn Liberated and 4 Oblivion Stone they want to trade?

What are you guys going to play at Chesham?

tom: with twin you play like an aggro-control deck with a combo kill. Your goal is NOT to combo off as quickly as possible, its to harrass them until they react, then get them. Its difficult to explain, cockatrice/mws sometime and I can show some examples. Storm is a deck that tries to attack you as soon as possible.

I agree with everything that Louis says pretty much, except that I'm not sure affinity IS that good vs jund g1
. I'll go find a bw tokens list and post it later

I'm not sure meddling mage/probe/baneslayer, md rest in peace.dec IS bad, I just don't have the time these days to work on it to a ptq winning level, and Magic-League is dying these days so I can't really test new ideas easily (you can't just test decks on modo, and mws play is not testing, its just a waste of time....)

Is trice any good for testing? My early impressions were not the best.

It is fine (well, was last time I used it) so long as you know your opponent already and arrange games ahead of time.

It's garbage if you just log in to the default server and play against a random.

I think without dredge creatures the deck is too fair to beat Jund

No it was something along the lines of:

4  Bloodghast
4  Deathrite Shaman
4  Gravecrawler
4  Lotleth Troll
4  Noble Hierarch
3  Thalia, Guardian of Thraben
4  Tidehollow Sculler
4  Vengevine

4  Faithless Looting
4  Inquisition of Kozilek

I went 4-1 with this at a gpt beating Naya boom/bust,affinity, eggs and kiki pod but losing in twice to jund. Haven't had a chance to test it since but it did not feel well that matched against jund (this was messenger jund with maindeck charm though) but strong vs the others.

I thought that might be the case, playing vs randoms was an utter waste of time. I do recall seeing something about private rooms so I'll look into it.

I would be inclined to agree. I want to test this particular deck with a Sphinx of the steel wind+rites package for jund as their only answer to that is Liliana which is horrible in the mu. I'm more inclined to play affinity or scapeshift though as they seem stronger overall.

Their other answer is an active Deathrite Shaman.  Pesky guy.

Yea you can create a game and password it so only your known friend can enter, which is what I have done in the past.

Does anyone fancy "Modern Testing Day" on Sat 15th in Penderel's Oak?  Or some night this week coming?

OK Pete you'll be glad to know that I tried playing twin as a "when you have a window/late game win con" not "jam it/try and force a window as soon as you can" and I am 5-0 (in Tournament Practice, but I take em where I can get em).  2+ Soul Wardens is an interesting game state but I have pulled it out twice now ...

What is Batterskull for?  Just Jund?  Is it too slow to bring in versus Affinity/Burn?

5-1 in Tournament Practice . . . ;)
