Too bad, I won't be there to take part in any event.
Generally I think it is an awesome idea and there are many different routes to make it absolutely attraktive. Should be attractive enough to get the non-regular crowd (as Londonites at the games club would probably move to the nice hotel, of there were a draft every day).
The problem I see is just, that you pay 35 quid entrance fee, but you expectation is just 10 quid of cash prices. And this is just if you are an average player. The bad player will expect much less and thus not even take part in the tourney at all. This makes the former average the bad player, who won't be willing to pay too much for no price. In the end you might just end up with a few people who believe they are really good.
Or, people are just irrational, overconfident or they come for stupid things, such as "having fun" ;).
if you top 8, £35 is cheaper than the 3 drafts you get.

But who top 8s? Of the presumably 50 people, 42 won't and they will get naught.

So basically, you're complaining that not everyone can be a winner.
Surely that is part of the risk of entering the tournament?
You are paying to play x rounds and for the venue as well, remember.
