Yesterday I was in Penderel's Oak with Dan B, Simon and two guys I'd never properly met before who had recently flown in from China (?) for Christmas. They heard about it from Dan's Twitter. And this got me thinking that our arrangements for "something is happening on Saturday" are really very haphazard. I turn up expecting eight people and there's four. I turn up expecting four and there's nine. Sometimes people have heard about it on Twitter or Facebook or on here. Sometimes I bother people via email and I'm never sure if they're just not available and were glad to be asked or if they hate me emailing them. There's people like, for random example, Warren whom I haven't seen for months and it seems kind of rude to email them out of the blue. But it would be cool if they turned up.
I wonder if we should have a mailing list or a Facebook group or a Google Calendar or if a thread on this site is still the best thing for arranging that kind of stuff. We can usually rustle up 4-8 but it would be cool if that number was always 8+. I think.
Just idle thoughts really but I wonder what y'all think? Would you sign up to such a thing? Would that be more useful than post on here. What about people that don't check this site regularly? Would it be good for them or should we just tell them to check in here?
(I'm thinking London paper Magic specifically here, although we can think broader than that if we are so inclined.)

I would love to get to practice constructed formats (most notably vintage and legacy) more regularly. I am sure other eternal players would be up for it. I am however not the most consistent player though, as I have a few commitments this coming new year : ) the sign up idea is good though!
Maybe something like: http://www.doodle.com/ ?
couldn't agree more, I was going to suggest a facebook group and twitter send out, the issue is do you want random's turning up or not. If you want just a select few, just Facebook and you can set up groups and events and have people say yes or no and have an idea of numbers, if you don't really care about who show's up then twitter and an open facebook group would be the way forwards.

Not looked at that doodle thing yet, but out of the other options mentioned, I think an extremely narrow focus Facebook group might work best - one exclusively for arranging meet ups in London, so you're not getting constant notifications for deck ideas/spoiler chat etc.
I absolutely *do* want "randoms" turning up. Otherwise the pool of available players is just an ever-dwindling set. There shouldn't be a secret handshake to get in - everyone is invited!
then open facebook and twitter, shouldn't be to complex and time consuming to set up

How about using the London Constructed MTG group on FB?
Crispin set it up, it mainly being used for Wednesday nights and TGC Saturdays, but can be expanded.
a facebook group sounds good. although if it can link to DT all the better.
can we have 'the limper' as an official non-secret handshake though?

http://basecamp.com/breeze
Would the 50 user limit ever be a problem? Would people mind getting these emails?
If you want to do it I'll go halves with you on the already small $10, Tom.
