Good but Cheap website

Im looking at setting up my own business and will probably be needing a website. As I have practiacly no money im looking for somewhere cheap to get one, or that lets you pay in instalments.

The only problem is just because its cheap it cant be poor looking as people checking the site need to take the business seriously.

Anyone know of anywhere?

Do you mean cheap hosting for a site, and/or a website that has already been created (i.e. a template) to which you just add your own content?

And when you say cheap, what sort of price are you talking about? The most expensive part will probably be getting someone to come up with a design for the site if you want any sort of custom graphics/logo etc. Realistically, assuming you wanted something pretty basic (i.e. no shopping basket/dynamic behaviour etc) with a small amount of design work you'd be looking to spend somewhere in the £200-£400 region (highly dependent on exact requirements). You post up a brief and coders bid for the work, it has an ebay style ratings and feedback system to give you confidence in the person you decide to offer the project to.

Basicaly im gonna be setting up a recruitment company so the website will be pretty basic, just a little bit about the company (a load of bullshit), contact details and possible job vacacies.

Im guessing I need hosting and email adresses as well.

:) You dont really need that much from what I hear. Its mostly just bullshiting people and seeing what works.

Basically Estelle is gonna teach me how to do it and im going to run it from home. I only need to get 1 placement a month to be earning more than I do working full time in the pub. Apparently 1 a month is not hard to get. Time will tell.

Having a bit of experience dealing with recruitment agents I gotta say the whole bullshitting part really pisses me off. For example, agents will call reception at my office asking to speak to me. The receptionist is trained to fend off these people, but they just say stuff like "I'm looking for Ben Titmarsh, i'm a deliveryman downstairs with a parcel for him" or "I'm a client of Ben's just catching up about the meeting I missed last week". It's got to the stage now where i'm no longer polite with these people on the phone because it is just so obnoxious and annoying.

All the best in this venture Gary, but if you want any advice I'd say to take more of an honest approach and look to build up a reputation through quality and good practise rather than subversion and deceit. Maybe it's just the reality of being in that industry but it really gets to me!

I will be doing recruitment to recruitment so I think its a bit easier to speak to the people you need. Also I have the advantage that biger companies want bigger fees, im cheap and will work for beer :)
