black red seems to be a strong archetype if you draft the dream (worked fine for me on my last two drafts drafting those colors, went 3-0). you have to force that deck though and have the key cards that make it viable. most of them are in the common slot so...

not a single blue flyer with two power in sight! good curve - got lucky in match two against roque who had a very good blue black deck

I despair for the standard of education in this country if Ross is being allowed to develop young minds. Unless this is some sort of "spot the deliberate mistake" competition.

Good point.

I think last nights decks were pretty valid though, most people in the 2 pods had drafted a few times already, and there weren't any more "stupidly late" picks than usual (just the 10th pick surrakur)

I really like the mono black archtype. There are so many awesome black commons, grul druz vampire, laceator, surrakar marauder, heartstabber, giant scorpion, blood seeker, plus of course all of the removal. I think Bx is going to be the UW flyers of Zendikar, Ross.

Simply using a frame of reference that Ross will understandy Charlie, UW flyers being the best alara block limited deck (in my opinion). This helps Ross understand.
