Have you ever seen anyone cheat at MTG at the Games Club?

Nothing too bad.

There's way too much discussion of draft picks and non-too-subtle signals (I'm guilty also here but trying not to do that any more).

And I've seen people do the "am I thinking of odd or even" thing to determine who starts which I don't think I'd allow as the opponent.

Chi Banefired my guy as an instant during our game the other day (Charlie was sitting next to us and pointed it out) and stuff like that happens all the time. I'm pretty sure those kind of mistakes are basically always innocent errors, rather than cheating, though.

Is this question inspired by particular incident?
Nah no incident as such with me but Jay was saying how easy it would be cheat the other day (he hasn't done it!) and it got me thinking that's all.

I heard that someone in the 'Round Robin' draft was caught out and confronted after having an insane amount of on colour bombs bombs in his deck that people did not remember passing. What's the point?!

Agreed re draft comments and stuff defo.

Yeah I am guilty of discussing draft pics too sometimes and am trying to do it less, it's hard though when loads of people are doing it, but ultimately that's the best way to learn by not discussing anything.

It would be insanely easy, agreed. And I suppose you do get rating points and boosters so not entirely pointless.

But for me I'm trying to become as good at the game as I can so it holds no appeal. That's why I'm switching to not looking at picks except between boosters and not discussing picks, too, like Peter. I don't think you can hold everyone to that, though, because it's a social event not a mega competition.
Ages ago some guy got caught, admitted and was banned from DCI sanctioned events for a year or something.

Someone also got banned for putting a kid in a bin once.
Aye aye! Seconded!

They would be fake rating points anyway!

So are you not actually supposed to look at picks between boosters technically? I didn't know that. But you can see them when you play online, even arranging into CMC order...?
ish - same as people above.

Don't think i've seen anything intentional, just accidents that weren't picked up on.

Ben - the official rules for a real life draft are that you have a certain time limit to make your pick (some number of seconds), then you put it face down and you're only allowed to look at your picks in a short review period at the end of each booster. They certainly enforce this on the Pro Tour but should be at any competitive level event.
Its enforced at Nats too
