"It’s more affordable than you might think"

No it isn't.

Let me elaborate - I live near London so assuming I will go home everyday it will cost me 16.70 a day just to get to London. Also for those who are travelling from further away they will have to spend money for a ticket to London then pay for a hotel if they are not lucky enough to have a friend who doesn't mind putting them up for the duration of nationals. Not to mention food, drink and side events it does add up to sizeable amount.

Brighton and Birmingham were not cheap to go to at all - those who live near or in London are lucky because it won't be as costly for us. For those reasons I would have to disagree with that heading.

The rest was a pretty good read if not a bit too long.
Also there is the fact that we have to take friday off work. Thats weak.
What about Thursday Gary?

There is magic to play for 4 days!
Nice work Dan. First of many?
I forgot to add, Dan I liked this piece.

Nationals can be fun and it is not all about the magic.

It can cost to goto, but it is not beyond most people to save for it.
I'm hoping they'll post some more stuff I write in future, yea! I used to write blogs and stuff all the time, once I get back into that habit I'll probably have a couple of these a month.

+ thanks Jason!

Good article Dan. Your enthusiasm shines through. Keep writing.
in the last email i received from wizards:

From the 19th-22nd August 2010, London will play host to the Great British National Championships. However, that is not all: in addition, there is a large Public Events Schedule that is open to players of all nationalities.

Highlights include:

FOUR PTQs for PT#1 2011
THREE Grand Prix Trials
SIX Historic Sealed Decks
Super FNM
Vintage & Legacy Championships
And More!
A full schedule is available here.

In addition, there is an article written by Dan Barrett (Magic Player) on why it is often a good idea to support and attend these level of events.

nice one : p
