Sucks to be us!
Trouble is, there aren't any European companies that are big enough to have the resources to hold something like this. The logistics are phenominal for anything along those lines and it takes a lot of capital to get something like this off the ground. The only company I can think of that might be big enough is Troll and Toad Europe, but I don't think that this is a reasonable idea for the UK. Maybe someone in Europe can do it, but apart from the Bazaar of Moxen, there aren't that many large scale events that are privately run outside of Spain/
we have so many issues with the game over here, this isn't even classed as a problem.

1 - We might not even have ptq's soon
2 - the cost is pricing people out of playing
3 - massive lack of shops
4 - FNM is basically a no go for anyone with a life these days

have I missed anything
WOW. Shame we dont have the sort of player base in this country to support anything even slightly close to this.
There are businesses in Europe big enough to run and fund large scale magic events. There are plenty of different issue to overcome first.

Are those issues the players themselves (ie: us) can do anything about?

PS: what issues do you mean.
The usual issues when it comes to Europe, location, language, cost etc!

If you tried to put an event like this with good prize support and cash, the numbers entering could be GP sized.

Where would you run them? Paris? London? Madrid? Not in parts of Germany because of the cash problems in pay outs!

Presumably any TO remotely able to do anything like this has considered it and decided that it's not possible/worth it. If there was lots of money to be made from running something like this in Europe, then someone would be making money from it.
Sucks to be you guys.

Then again, after the nearest one (San Jose, where i already play) the next nearest is LA (5 hour drive) and after that it's Dallas (27 hour drive!)

Big fucking country they got here ...
