The WMCQ in Nottingham will be on Sunday June 3rd and there will be a PTQ on Monday June 4th (Bank Holiday)

Tuesday June 5th is also a bank holiday (Queens Jubilee) so it gives people time to travel home/rest etc before work on Wednesday.

Edit: I've been told Manchester is Saturday June 30th. (unconfirmed)

@Dan: I bought an extended deck from scratch to play in a ptq, so I could have enough PWP for nats (which I will probably have to buy another deck for... key cards are quite scarce/thinly spread in China so its hard to borrow). Team events are so much more fun than individual events that it made perfect sense to me.

The thing about team events is that they don't work as well when you dont get to choose your team.

Other possibility for high attendance - Modern is a really fun format in which you can play almost anything.

I also agree with Baker - my goal for the day was not "win PTQ" but "get at least 4 wins"

Looks like I'll have to skip Nottingham WMCQ as I'm in Las Vegas (oh noes!)

hoooooly shit i can't believe that so many people validate wotc's shit decisions by continuing to throw lots of money and time at this joke of a programme

so this is my stance,
i play the same magic as i did this time last year. sometimes i'll go 2 weeks without playing anything, some weeks i'll play in two events and some weeks i'll fork out £40 + on a ptq. the point is im playing the same amount of magic, getting decent results and as well as the prize support i now have an additional ptq to go to which i know will be fun and a lot of my friends will go to.
i was talking to mills over Facebook yesterday and he was amazed at my 'grinding' but i didnt think anything of it. i went to lille as it was cheap (i went with madhouse so didnt pay travel) not because i want the points. in fact, i had the 200 points (or, like, ten away) from my first two events, a gpt final (around 50ish) and a 6-2 finish at manchester ptq (around 130ish points).

i dont usually disagree with phil, he is right, it is a shit system and i would never buy a deck just so i could, potentially win points but on the other hand i wouldnt go to a ptq thinking, "i only need 4 wins", i would go to win and fun.
at the end of the day i have around 520ish PWP, am 21st in the uk the last time i checked and you know what? who gives a shit! the point is i had a DAMN good time getting them points, and i have another event to go to that i may not have had the chance to.

Why haven't the points for GPT Manchester in London been updated yet?

You can play anything but will probably lose to Affinity, Tron, Jund or Delver decks

A business wants to incentivise it's customers to spend more money? Obviously they are making a terrible decision!

Because points from any TGC event haven't been updated inn ages. We need to remind Jason to do it before April 1st!!!

er, are you being intentionally obtuse or do you literally not understand that decisions that make wotc more money and decisions that make magic the gathering fun and worthwhile to play are not the same thing?

Wizards want more money that is obv, it would seem that players are happy to form out more money so that works for both.

Just before you get angry I haven't paid to play magic this year nor will I, but I hope you won't be to angry me commenting on this stuff
