EDH - get involved!

EDH (Elder Dragon Highlander) has been gaining a bit of traction at the club recently. It's a fun format thats more like limited that constructed - only using your folders of old bomb rares! For a description of the format and official rules see here:

Jason mentioned a while back that if we get enough people who are keen he would consider running EDH tournaments (probably on saturdays). So sleeve up a 100 cards and get involved.

Also 2HG EDH sounds horrible. EDH tournaments are troubling enough as it is, just because on a 'pure power' level Rofellos, Braids, Zur and Sharuum are so much better than pretty much any other general, but EDH just seems like it multiplies the potential misery.

It's probably terrible, has loads of obviously good cards missing, and isn't even all in the same sleeves, but i finally have an EDH deck, after much poking from various people - Ertai, il Corroto

Next time i see some of y'all i'll get you to have a look and give me ideas on cards to acquire for it and what to cut - on that front, if anyone has a spare U/B karoo land, U/B signet, U/W signet, an a Vedlaken Aethermage, that'd be sweet as.

(Actually there are probably a lot of interesting things we could do with and EDH league more than just one-on-one matches ... see the various list of alternate points for multiplayer games floating around the web ...)

On the subject of banned lists, would anyone else object to using the old Karakas rule ('Generals have protection from Karakas') rather than having Karakas be banned? It's such an awesome card to have for non-General-interfering purposes...

As a quick guide, how many of the following do i dieally want to have:

land
other mana sources (signets, sol ring, etc)

mass removal
spot removal
counterspells (i'm playing blue)
draw spells
massive dudes
other cool stuff

Will have a proper work on my list before the weekend, as i guess at least 1 person will play with me then.

I would generally aim for around 40-45 mana sources, which will include cheap non-land mana sources like Mana Crypt, Sol Ring, Fellwar Stone, and maybe 1-2 3cc pieces like Darksteel Ingot or Coalition Relic (although obviously the more aggressive your deck, the less fixing you want that costs mana.)

For everything else, it would vary pretty hugely based on the general/gameplan, so you might need to be a bit more specific :)

Fair enough - will show you my deck next time i see you - It's Erati The Corrupted, but haven't really used my general much. Just wanted to play blue with W/B for better removal.
