Afraid not, and I'm out of London when the weekend Modern tournament is.

Also for me the venue is far too out of the way to ever consider on a weeknight.

Won't be there tonight but will try to be there for the Modern tournament on the 12th November.

Will be there next Tuesday for Legacy League night - hopefully see you then!

Sigh, if i was in london I would be so on it. PLease make sure attendance is high enough that it continues to run in the holidays..
looks like i won't be able to make it either. next week perhaps...

How was the the evening?

I was at the football watching Arsenal beat Bolton.

The Modern nights are picking up, and are seeing a good range of decks.

The next event is Proxies allowed on 8/11/11 so get in for testing to prepare for the big event on the 12th.

We know that allowing proxies is a move not everyone will like, but we hope that the majority will appreciate valuable testing and experience over winning packs for beating less-than-competetive decks!

What kind of proxies do you use/permit, out of interest?

Card name written on a land with sharpie?

Full oracle text etc is preferred, and it should be easy for people to bring printed proxies anyway. Plenty of sites can reel them off for you (http://mtg.edd-miles.com/). Unfortunately we can't print off for you, copyright etc etc.

If there are low numbers then it's more chilled out - and we allow pretty casual sharpie usage. But if numbers increase, as do formalities and we'll require full name, cmc, oracle text.

We're not here to be Hitlers but it's in everyones interest to have as aesthetically pleasing proxies as possible. No one likes looking across a table at 20 lands with fuzzy black biro on them.

tl:dr - Yes. But please put as much effort into proxies as possible, it makes it nicer for everyone.

Assuming a mix of real cards and proxies, I actually think sharpie on a land is better, as it means all your cards will have same thinkness in a sleeve.

Though anyone wanting to cheat by cutting to proxies in a weekday evening modern testing environment to gain a booster is SAAAAAAAD

It's barely noticable to be honest. You can easily tell a deck of paper proxies apart from real cards, but not individual card thickness. Unless you are breaking out the micrometer I doubt there would be a real problem :)

Looks a hell of a lot nicer too, unless the proxies have art by Ben Lei.

Louis is right - I ran a proxy deck on our last Modern day and the lands were in no way distinguishable from proxies (avec paper).

With Modern as the PTQ format next year we will be upping our Modern events and officially sanctioning them, as well as upping the prizes. Attendance at these fortnightly events will help us gauge how much the community wants us to support Modern, so if you want to see weekly Modern events with [RAV] land prizes (for the same cost of booster entry) then come along :)

I'm going to this tomorrow (Tues 8th) night and to the modern event on Saturday 12th.

Anyone else coming?

If not hopefully see you at The Games Club FNM on Friday.
