Magic: the Gathering in the UK

EDH (Elder Dragon Highlander) has been gaining a bit of traction at the club recently. It's a fun format thats more like limited that constructed - only using your folders of old bomb rares! For a description of the format and official rules see here:

Jason mentioned a while back that if we get enough people who are keen he would consider running EDH tournaments (probably on saturdays). So sleeve up a 100 cards and get involved.

Its really not, at all. This format is more constructed than any other format, and if it isn't, your deck is terrible.
Its Gary, can you post your old highlander deck list.

Clearly some people are going to put 40 tutors, gifts and reveillark combo in their deck (me included)... but for the most part the spirit of highlander lends to more random games with interesting multiplayer interactions, it's a casual format after all.

It's a skill intensive constructed format, that much is obvious. But it definitely *feels* more like playing limited than testing the 4 Colour Blood vs Black-White Tokens matchup..

i think if people want to build a combo-boring EDH deck it's their right, but of course the games will all be boring and not fun..

i myself chose Teneb The Harvester and have a whole deck based around reanimation, and i've never had a boring game with that deck :)
I also have a Sharuum artifact deck but it's a lot less fun because it plays cards like Tinker turn 2 and Mindslaver lock.. EDH is just one of those formats that are only as fun as you make them :)
It all depends on your definition of fun, for example, I get lots of enjoyment from stopping you doing anything, and then watching you get frustrated as i kill you very slowly :)

Gary, I'll post my decklist for non-ED highlander when I can be bothered, but it takes effort :P
Gary again, Rob you know you can just stick something with colours as your general and your non EDH deck is ready to go.

I know, read my earlier post, I was saying horde of notions :D

but tbh, you really want to have venser/teferi as your general...

As reigning UK & Ireland Judge EDH Champion I approve this message.

Looking forward to Sliver Queening you all in the face in the near future (I even got to attack with her once!)
I've thought about doing Slivers for a laugh. Wouldn't Sliver Overlord be a better general with his search ability? Or it is just a 5c highlander deck that you tagged Sliver Queen on to?
