Organising cards and looking through them for stuff you need are two different things. I can go through a box of cards in about a minute and tell you if there is anything I need in there. Obviouly not a 5 min job but other friends of mine have been happy for me to come over and sort cards of an evening or weekend. Its not like I expect it for free, the last time someone helped me out I turned up with a liter of vodka and the time before that I bought the lands missing from the deck and gave them to the peron lending me cards.

Depends, if you work full time then there is a small window to be in a house, and that is often time spent cooking, eating, cleaning and sleeping. It also helps if cards are organised; I have only just organised a small part of my collection (mainly cards leftover from drafts, and I haven't been to many drafts in the last 8 or so months) and that took me over a day just to organise. The size of the collection would also affect the time required to find certain cards; one person not knowing the organisation (if any) of some cards, when given, say, 20 shoeboxes full, would have some trouble finding the one or two cards they need. Its not always going to be something that is going to take 5 minutes.
It doesn't have to be a bad thing, I'm mainly saying that it's "an event" (of sorts) that does take up time. That isn't always convenient. Sometimes it can be fun, but only if you have the time and inclination.

Indeed - After a week at work, I don't want my Friday evening at home to feel like i'm being used as a drop-in rental service, and neither do I want to be expected to continually lend out cards for every event. I might not ask for anything in return, but lending out cards takes up a non-zero amount of my time, and I should be able to do so as/when is convenient and I want to, without being made to feel like a dick on the occasions when I don't. The fact that I own more cards than some of my friends should not be a weight hanging over me at all times!

Just to make clear a few things:

- A friend owning cards you do not in no way entitles you to borrow them.

- Someone having previously lent some quantity of cards in no way obliges them to do so in future.

- The person lending cards defines the terms of the borrow - don't like them, tough.

- Plenty of people have significant collections and rarely, if ever, lend anything out.

- It's unreasonable to always assume you can borrow whatever it is you need from someone.

I agree with Dan. Then again I do not own any cards now!!!
But sometimes it's good to help out a friend ;)

some times its nice to have the cards sitting there doing nothing and not helping your friends out. I mean if they can't afford the cards fuck em. What makes people think being your friend means you would want to help them out.

No not playing Nat Q's as I probably wont be here for Nats.
Gary, I do want to help out friends when I can, but it is not my responsibility to provide cards for others!

No one said anything about responsibility. You make out that you lend cards all the time and people keep pestering you for more and more.

Its not just me, Mills knows what im talking about. Lending some stuff out occasionaly shouldnt be as much of a hardship as you make out. You act like we are asking you to chop off an arm and lend that to us, or do something that requires effort.
